Trees...CHECK

I get a call (It was my wake-up-call!) in the morning from Robby Griffin letting me know that the tree removal guys are at the site. I rushed to get out to the site before too much cutting had happened so I could get pictures. I had to call Janina to come out there with me. (I was her wake-up-call.) We got some really nice pictures. Later Morgan, Ashley, and Shannon came out there. Mike made it just as the big pine in front was coming down. It was exciting to see. The guys thought we were wierd for being so excited about tree cutting. Some of us just don't see trees getting cut down very ofter....I'm from the big city. New Orleans = very little trees.

Wednesday was the AIAS chapter Christmas party. We had a round of Dirty Santa and I ended up with an Earth, Wind, and Fire Super Hits CD. It's AMAZING! I had to steal it from Brandy who stole it from another guy, who stole it from someone else.

Thursday was a work day out on the site cleaning up the brush and remaining trunks. I would have been out there but I was up until 5 am the night before, so I slept in... even missing my 10 am History Class.
Friday is now only 2 hours away.
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Sorry if this video doesn't come out right.

Nothing turns out the way you planned.

We have been working on these drawing over and over and over again. I understand that that is just the way to do it. Things change all the time, and I'm fine with that. Maybe it's good that all the big changes are happening now and the complete house is becoming easier to understand as a built object. When we are out on the site a few months from now, little mistakes may not start to occur.

Robby Griffin is being a big help by cutting down some of the big trees on the site. He was supposed to timber the trees this morning, but his help bailed on him, so it looks like tomorrow is the day. The class expressed interest in witnessing the timbering of the trees since most of us come from rather large cities and we don't get to see things like that very often if at all.

Why is it completely neccessary to build a roof over this house?? This roof is being the biggest nuisance. We are trying to be creative, but rational, and the outcome looks real neat, but the class can never seem to be unanamous in voting. Hey, at least we don't have 32 people to try and get to agree on an issue.

The deadline for building permit drawings is this Friday. I think we should be able to finish. I know we all want to have this obstacle crossed before break. If by some odd reason we don't finish, it's not the end of the world. It will distract me from having a good time in Chicago and Milwaukee.

Let's hope that everyone has a good Holiday Break. 4 of us 5th year architecture student are flying to Milwaukee for AIAS Forum: Morgan, Ashley, Mike, and Me! We are also planing 2 days in Chicago after Forum. Maybe one of my post will be from Milwaukee during my trip.

Deadline Approaching!!!

Amanda here. It's the end of the week and I have the worst headache ever. I'm tired and getting over a cold. We gave ourselves a deadline for December 18 to get all the building permit drawings done. I think we will make that deadline, but it's going to be tough. We're in for a FUN week!

TREES!

So I got a call back from the tree service company. Mr. Stevens and I met the guy out there. As we were looking at the fallen tree near the back of the site, there definitely was a snake sitting there on the side of the trunk. We almost didn't see him. I don't know much (well anything really) about snakes, but apparently it was a poisonous kind... Anyway, site stuff should be going on within the next few days.

We're down to 1, or kind of 1-1/2 designs now. It should definitely be 1 by Friday. It has to if we are to make our Dec. 18th deadline for the Building Permit.

Now we are taking another group photo because some people left.

Woe is me.

I hate Ruston weather! It's cold one day and hot the next. When it does this, I develop a cold. Thanks! So now I'm in Hale working on the revisions to a plan and I feel really bad. (The things I go through for architecture.)

Also...I think that habiTECH needs a key to the shop. We just got an insane amount of tile and we wanted to go sort through it today, but we can't get into the architecture section of the shop.

Cheers for getting a blog set up!

After some confusion with what name goes where, I finally got my blog set up. They should make this easier.
